Social Media Associate
The Social Media Team strategizes, organizes, and produces all content for Fandom Forward’s Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Linkedin accounts. This volunteer position will draft potential content on our social media calendar, copyedit for social media platforms, schedule agreed-upon content on our social media scheduling site, and brainstorm digital outreach ideas to build community for Fandom Forward further. We’re looking for someone with a natural talent for writing, familiarity with social media trends, and a reliable work ethic.
This position reports to the Social Media Manager and will require an average of 6-7 weekly volunteer hours.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Suggest and build out content ideas for the week.
Write draft copy for social media platforms following recommended topics and requests.
Copyedit copy for social media platforms.
Schedule content on social media scheduling sites, along with Instagram specifically.
Help brainstorm and strategize messaging for Fandom Forward campaigns.
Option to write copy for the weekly newsletter, email blasts, press releases, and the website.
Keep abreast of relevant updates to social media channels and trends.
Attend monthly all-staff meetings via Google Meet and respond to tasks given in Social Media Team emails.
Qualifications:
Experience writing copy and/or reporting, managing social media, and content creation.
Familiarity with Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and all common social media platforms
Organized, efficient, and dedicated self-starter
Interest in social change and activism
Interest in stories, fandom, and popular culture
Bonus - if you know how to create graphics or gifs via Canva.

TikTok Content Creator
Housed in the Campaigns Department, the Social Media Team strategizes, organizes, and produces all content for Fandom Forward’s Twitter, Facebook,TikTok, and Instagram accounts. This volunteer position will brainstorm and create content for our TikTok! We’re looking for someone with an eye for social media trends, a sense of humor, and a reliable work ethic.
This position reports to the Social Media Team Leader and will require an average of 7 volunteer hours per week.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Draft, brainstorm, and create engaging TikTok content with messaging and themes that are consistent with our social media platforms.
Suggest content for social media platforms.
Help brainstorm and strategize messaging for campaigns.
Keep abreast of all relevant updates to social media channels and trends.
Attend regular Social Media Team meetings and occasional all-staff meetings via Google Meet.
Qualifications:
Experience creating video content a plus
Familiarity with Google Drive and all common social media platforms
Organized, efficient, and dedicated self-starter
Interest in social change and activism
Interest in stories, fandom, and popular culture

Grant Writer
The Grant Writer researches grant opportunities for Fandom Forward and its various programs and campaigns, identifies worthwhile pursuits, and drafts proposals for submission to foundations, corporations, and other grant sources. The Grant Writer coordinates applications with the Managing Director and Campaigns Director and performs necessary reporting and tracking when assigned.
Hourly requirements for this position vary by workflow, but will not exceed 5 hours per week. This position reports to the Managing Director and Campaigns Director.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
Perform prospect research on prospective granting organizations to assess potential compatibility with Fandom Forward programs as well as application requirements.
Work with the Managing Director and Senior Staff to identify fundable programs within Fandom Forward and develop case statements for each program.
Participate in brainstorming and strategy sessions with the Development Department.
Coordinate grant tracking and reporting as needed.
Contribute to written institutional materials (including Annual Report, etc.), as needed.
Assist with other fundraising projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Professional experience in relevant field required
Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
Strong copy editing skills.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
Proficient with Google productivity apps.
Desire to work with a bunch of weirdos and nerds.
Enthusiastic, optimistic attitude; unafraid to put passion and geekiness on display.

We’re always looking for translators of all languages to help us bring our resources to fan activists across the world!
This is a freelance position, and you will receive assignments that you can accept or reject depending on your current real-world workload!
